Happy New Year!

Hi girls!

Happy New Year! How were the celebrations??

Every year I spend Christmas Eve with the family having a nice home cooked meal at home. Well, at least in recent years. When I was younger, Christmas was a huge deal. We used to go over to my Aunt's place and there would cater Christmas dinner, Turkey included. It was always a noisy affair with all the adults talking and the kids playing, and talking of course. A giant family affair that would wind down to the adults singing karaoke, or watching some laser disc movie, and the kids playing indian poker or blackjack. Come midnight, we would play christmas carols as the gifts were distributed. Ah yes…we used to have a huge tree full of gifts. And as we unwrapped our presents at the stroke of midnight, we would go around thanking the uncles and aunties for the lovely presents (even the not-so lovely ones hahaha). As we got older, with licenses and all, the cousins would adjourn to our after-party, leaving the adults in the house. Now, we were wholesome kids so our after-party comprised of late night movies, supper, a drive to East Coast Park and just chilling, or a drive to the Airport where we would have supper and just talk. We were all very close growing up.

Now that we are older, things have changed. We now do our own family dinners then meet at Grams for the gift exchange which is now something for the younger ones. A smaller, less elaborate affair, but still encapsulating the spirit of Christmas.

New Year's Eve was also a big event growing up. Mom and Dad would take me to these fancy countdown dinner and dance parties where we would wear pretty dresses, eat yummy food, and be entertained by some funny emcee and count down to the New Year with loads of strangers really except for those at our table.

Nowadays, Mom and Dad still go for such gala dinners but with their friends whilst my bro and I have our own plans with friends and for me, usually my guy. I shall not go into details of how I spent my NYE this year but I would love to hear how you spent your Christmas and NYE. :) Perhaps give me some ideas on what to do next year.. :))
